vs Wilbrahams FC
Away cup match
AFC Ely led at half time, thanks to a touch from Tino directing a long pass from Danny around the Wilbrahams keeper who was enough off his line to have no chance getting to the ball as it bobbled along into the bottom right corner. However this was against the run of play, with Reece Stephens having to make numerous saves during the first half. Ryan Lawrence with an excellent goal line clearance, and Tommy Faulkner with a few last ditch slide tackles to see the ball out for throw-ins.
A shoulder injury to Tom Sharpe following a shove from behind meant forced changes in the first half.
The bench consisting of players returning from illness and injuries meant their impact was dampened and so we were unable to inject much more energy into the game.
Wilbrahams deservedly got their equaliser and once started, did not stop.
A head injury to captain Tom Hunter compounding the away sides problems.
This was a demoralising loss after some strong performances in the couple of weeks prior, Ely need to turn things around this weekend away at Manea United.
