AFC Defib lined up in a 3-1-1 formation, which allowed for a solid defensive structure while providing opportunities for attacking play. Hari Sion took his position in goal, shielded by a back three comprising Danny Bird on the right, Harvey Kerslake in the centre, and David Duffy on the left. In front of the defence, Alex Attwell operated as a central midfielder, tasked with linking play and supporting both defence and attack. Up front, Lewis Evans led the line as the striker, with the expectation of converting chances into goals.

The substitutes bench featured Harley Bennett, who would later come on to influence the game.

The match began with an unexpected twist as an own goal from an Only Kurls and Horses player gifted AFC Defib an early lead in the 11th minute. This fortunate turn of events injected confidence into the AFC Defib players, who looked to build on their advantage.

However, the tide turned shortly after when Lewis Evans was substituted off for Harley Bennett in the 17th minute. This change came as AFC Defib sought to maintain their momentum, but it also marked a shift in dynamics on the pitch.

As the first half progressed, the match reached its halfway point with the score still favouring AFC Defib 1-0. However, the second half saw Only Kurls and Horses regroup and come out with renewed determination. In the 24th minute, they found the equaliser, striking back to level the match at 1-1.

The momentum continued to swing in favour of the opponents, and just eight minutes later, Only Kurls and Horses took the lead with their second goal in the 32nd minute. This goal put AFC Defib in a challenging position as they now trailed 2-1.
