Match Report - MELBOURNE DYNAMO U15 UNITED - 27 Sep 2020

First round of the cup today for Chellaston and the draw had pitted us against local rivals Melbourne, this was a first for me and my lads playing Melbourne but as long as I’ve been involved they’ve always been Div one, challenging and doing well.

However they were relegated to our division last season so two very good Division two teams going head to head in the first round of the cup.....

A real sense of excitement was building around the park, players arriving, parents arriving and I got a nervous feeling for the first time in a while going into the game..

First half kicked off and I have to say Melbourne started brightly but again never really troubling our goal, but we also had chances of our own Karsen playing against his former team causing problems, Kailem, Connor and Tom putting themselves about but the killer instinct which we’ve had no problems with lately was just evading us...

Half Time 0-0 and in the boys came, I told them it was now time to start playing the game rather than the occasion, I told them they were the better team from my eyes but they’d have to up a gear and start taking the chances that were coming our way...

Out they went second half and they dominated, honestly Chello were not giving Melbourne any of the ball, winning tackles, winning headers it was starting to become probably the best team performance I’ve seen from these lads, would they get reward.....of course they would.

Up stepped Jayden, a customary run and acute finish into the bottom corner a huge roar from the parents and Chello were 1-0 up, Jayden is in a rich vein of form at the minute and although not his best game for Chellaston he was going into tackles like his life depended on it and he’s a player that can do something special to change a game and then upped stepped big Harry Barlow, Chellaston won a free kick on the half way line, Barlow looked over to me and said “I’m going for it Bren” he went for it and in it went a truly magnificent goal from a magnificent player!!! And the crowd went wild ??????

Honestly I cannot lavish more praise on these lads every one of them stood up and they are now showing that they are a team to be reckoned with in the City League, they just need to keep plugging away and maintain work ethic and discipline and they’ll get the rewards they truly deserve.

Josh in goal brilliant, Kingy, Ben, Barlow and Jeevan solid at the back, a truly outstanding back 4, Connor, Jayden, Tom, Fin playing in midfield creative, solid and energetic

Karsen and Kailem always dangerous looking to score.

Will, Shay, Archie, AJ and Harry L all dependable coming on and doing a magnificent job.

Honestly this team continues to amaze not only me but for all the people involved, coaches, parents. They need to make it count, continue to want to improve, you get out what you put into football and today they gave it everything and can enjoy now going into the next round of the cup.
