99Problems vs Hardly Athletic 2-0
Jack and Lewis miss this week's game, but 99Problems welcome back Carvell and George for another must win match in Nuneaton's premier Monday night 6aside league.
All the talk before the game was about getting an early goal, and taking the chances created. Hardly Athletic had made life very uncomfortable in the first match and it was to be expected again this time around.
99Problems' solid defence usually a great platform to play from, was simply a bystander in the opening exchanges. 99 Problems playing some of their most direct footy of the season in Hardly Athletic's half had left a lonely Skell to just count the shots fired in.
Unfortunately for 99Problems the first 10 shots had produced all blanks, and had raised cortisol levels in 99Problems significantly. Decent chances were being created, but none had bulged the net. Could the unspeakable thing happen and 99Problems fail to score?
Hardly Athletic playing their usual dogged game, had only a few rare visits into 99Problems half. 99Problems tracking back made sure no dangerous attack became a potential goal threat.
Tommo's range of passing was excellent throughout the match and on many occasions started attacks for 99Problems.
99Problems finally broke the deadlock with 12 to go. Andy dribbling past 2 static defenders to lay the ball onto Craig who made no mistake beating the keeper.
99Problems 2nd goal soon followed. George tormenting his defenders all game, fired in a low cross which got knocked in by a Hardly Athletic defender.
The match continued in the same vein and finished as it started, with 99Problems dominating the proceedings. However a very late scare nearly saw 99Problems lose their clean sheet. Luckily Skell said he had it covered, whilst from everyone elses angle the ball agonisingly squirms past the post.
With so many dangerous attacks from 99Problems, the scoreline quite easily have been much higher, and yet for poor finishing it was an enjoyable encounter played in good spirit. Well done everyone.
Man of the match. Craig. For his goal and energetic performance.
