99Problems vs Cabbage FC

Five goal 99Problems make it 3 wins on the bounce.

On a mild December night, 99 Problems entertain bottom side Cabbage FC in their latest league match. All but Jack is available giving 99Problems the luxury of 2 subs.

In last season's mirror fixture 99 Problems struggled to win this match, and despite the relentless barrage of shots, it finished nil nil. However this time around, 99Problems are flying high in the league and have just come off a thumping 4 nil win the previous week.

The match begins in a very similar fashion to last season's encounter with 99Problems dominating possession early on, and are the first to register a shot. Lewis combining well with his team mates giving Cabbage a taster of what's in store.

Cabbage FC look every bit a young and inexperienced side, and are forced to defend the continual stream of attacks from 99Problems. However without that first goal, the hoodoo of not scoring against seasoned bottom side would continue.

Jay on the hand had other ideas and the bearded wonder after 10 goalless minutes finally opens the scoring for 99 Problems. The goal was fully deserved.

99Problems brand of football is what you'd expect from a team chasing a top 4 place. However the match lacked the intensity of the previous weeks, which could largely be explained by their opposition. Given that, there wasn't anything wrong with 99Problems build up play and mindset.

The match took a huge turn when Andy scores the second. Andy latching onto a poor pass, and firing over the on coming keeper. A visibly deflated Cabbage now ripe for picking.

Tommo's positioning for 99Problems was remarkable and he found himself in the right place at the right time on many occasions. Had he converted all his chances Tommo could be looking at himself top of the scoring charts for 99Problems...Blame is often elsewhere, and Skell's unswerving determination to see him score against the Cabbage, put what they call 'the mockers on the lad' may have contributed somewhat. :)

It didn't take long before 99Problems scored again. Lewis, setting-up Jay for his second then, scoring himself to validate a decent match again.

The final goal for 99 Problems came via Craig who cooly finished, making it 5 on the night for the good guys. Lewis had a late penalty saved, but the game was won by then and it shoots 99Problems into the top 4.

Defensively 99Problems were sound again, Rich taking up the duty to marshall the back line and making sure the team was well organised and in position. Despite Carvell making the wrong dietary prematch choices, sat back and enjoyed a relatively quiet night defending. Skell whose brilliance wasn't required tonight kept the subs morale high... And will be getting a solid 7.5 outta 10 from the director of football tonight :)
