Match report by Adam Carvell
The stakes were high for the final game of 2018, as captain Carvell miscalculated the fixtures and originally assured the team that a top 4 place at xmas was a certain... only to learn it was not.
Missing influential maestro Andy Barry, the odds for 99 Problems to continue their scintillating run were slashed by the bookies prior to kick off.
However, with a squad of Jay, Skell, Tomo, birthday boy Rich, Craig, Jack, and Carvell, write 99 Problems off at your own peril.
Like an impotent man trying to impregnate his wife, it appeared as if luck would desert 99 as the first half of the game passed with the woodwork getting more attention than a pig in David Cameron's private kennel.
On the games halfway mark however, Jack Riggs finally broke the deadlock.
Following the opener, Beating Chastards had no choice but to go for it and the space was finally available for 99 to exploit.
Carvell, with a delicious (and actually intentional for once) scoop, put Lewis through on goal. The end result of which was inevitable.
At 2-0, there was only one team likely to score next. Jay, on the back of a floorless display, with the only blemish being an ill advised slide tackle, setting up Lewis for his brace.
The finale was not without incident. Carvell stamping on 99s keeper Skell. Then Skell producing a fine safe to keep a clean sheet.
If it wasn't for Shake and Bake, with 99s J. Riggs on loan, being selfish bastards and throwing away a 3-2 lead, we'd be top for xmas.
As it is, 99 can enjoy 2nd place over the xmas period, taking time in the weeks off to reflect in a great season so far.
